Working in bad weather

Working in bad weather
Working outdoors all year round can be tough on equipment, especially in the seemingly increasing wet climate of the UK. Alana Ecology stocks a range of kit for those braving the bad weather.

Recording data out in the field in wet weather can be difficult - paper soon turns to mush and pens quickly stop working. Waterproof clipboards such as our range of WeatherWriters are ideal for soggy conditions. The sturdy pop-up cover protects your documents from rain whilst still being able to view and write easily.

Instead of using normal stationery, trywaterproof paper. Alana Ecology stocks a selection of handy waterproof notebooks so you can scribble down information even in the wettest weather. The waterproof ringbinder allows you to have a selection of waterproof papers - plain, lined and graph - for recording different types of data in the field. Waterproof sheet paper is also available; this can be used with a conventional clipboard or WeatherWriter without fear of it falling apart in a heavy downpour, and you'll still be able to write on it in wet or greasy conditions. Zecom Photocopyable paper can be printed onto so you can make a waterproof copy of field maps, recording tables/forms etc. that you can read or write on in any weather.

Waterproof pens are another handy bit of wet weather field kit. These space pens have a pressurised cartridge so you can write at any angle, even upside down. The specially developed ink will still work even in extreme cold and will write on wet and greasy paper.

With the right kit, even in the most miserable winter weather data can safely and easily be recorded and precious equipment kept dry - even if the field worker is soaking wet through!
