Argos Platform Terminal Transmitters (PTTs) provide worldwide tracking by transmitting data via the Argos satellite system.

Argos PTTs offer long operational life, high location accuracy, programmable duty cycles with multiple seasons, integrated sensors, and package sizes ranging from 12-80 grams. Conventional VHF transmitters can be incorporated into the package, if desired. Solar PTTs are also available in a variety of sizes starting at 9.5g with operational lives measured in years.

Sensors incorporated as standard include temperature, activity, battery voltage, duty cycle season, and transmission counter. PTTs can come as backpacks (typical configuration) while custom attachment designs are also possible, such as leg mounts (for species such as cranes), neck mounts (for species such as swans), or patagial mounts.
